Vapor Barrier
There is a moisture barrier that prevents evaporation and at the same time absorbs liquid located closest to the patient. This reduces the amount of fluid the patient needs to warm up, and therefore the patient can use all their efforts to recover body heat. There are no known hypothermia bags on the market that offer moisture barriers that also absorb liquid.
There are two different vapor barriers:
- Jona: The entire moisture barrier has absorbation capacity, and it can absorb up to 10 liters per m2.
- Gemini: The moisture barrier does not absorb on the whole sheet but rather in a zone of 70X200 cm, where a maximum of around 6-8 liters can be absorbed per m2.
