About us

Thermosaver AS has developed a hypothermia rescue bag based on the expressed needs of Norwegian frontline rescue personnel and the Armed Forces. It builds on extensive experience with rescue operations in cold climates and the latest research on hypothermia.

A three-year research project, supported by the Research Council of Norway, resulted in a scientifically designed rescue bag based on the Banak principle of three key elements:

  • A water- and windproof outer shell

  • An insulating layer

  • A moisture barrier next to the patient to prevent heat loss through evaporation

During the development of the rescue bag, it became evident that the demand for a compact, lightweight, and intuitive hypothermia rescue solution was just as significant in the civilian sector as in the military. Extensive testing after the completion of the research project has resulted in a user-friendly rescue bag available in two versions: one for civilian use and one for military use.

Thermosaver is now in use on offshore installations on the Norwegian continental shelf, by volunteer rescue organizations, on expeditions in Svalbard, and by fire and rescue services. Discussions are also ongoing with NATO units in Denmark, Germany, and Sweden regarding the introduction of Thermosaver in various contexts.
